Deletions of Pten in BCC are an infrequent event (Quinn et al., 1994), implicating that Pten is a significant suppressor of non-melanoma skin tumorigenesis (Hertzler-Schaefer et al., 2014; Macdonald et al., 2014; Ming & He, 2009). This evidence concerns the gene PTEN and skin basal cell carcinoma.
