While the incidence rate of severe hypoglycemia in people with type 1 diabetes had declined by about 30% (IRR = 0.720, 95% CI: 0.580–0.892, p < 0.001), a more prominent fall was observed in people with insulin-treated type 2 diabetes, which was almost 70% lower (IRR = 0.314, 95% CI: 0.249–0.395, p = 0.008). This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
