INS and diabetes mellitus: It is possible to distinguish between three types of diabetes: (i) type 1, which most affects young people, with non-production of insulin in the pancreas and involves about 10% of diabetic people [3]; (ii) type 2, which occurs in middle-age or old people, with low production of insulin or when the body does not use the insulin produced and involves about 90% of diabetic people [4]; (iii) gestational diabetes, which occurs during the pregnancy, with a connected risk of diabetes development for both mother and child [5].
