MLXIPL and cancer: Our previous findings and this study has both indicated that AGEs and glucose increase ChREBP mRNA and protein levels in cancer cells.[15] One difference is that the effect of AGEs on ChREBP expression depends on the presence of RAGE whereas RAGE seems to play a minor role in glucose-mediated ChREBP induction.[15] We recently reported that HNF-4α played an important role in mediating glucose-induced ChREBP expression.[34] It is worthwhile to find out whether HNF-4α also contributed to AGEs-induced ChREBP expression.
