The reason for the increased risk of pancreatic cancer with incretin-based, in the opinion of Elashoff et al., was that the GLP-1-based therapy could induce asymptomatic low-grade pancreatitis40, and pancreatitis was relevant to the cellular transformation that leads to pancreatic cancer41, whether the GLP-1-based therapy could lead to pancreatic cancer eventually was still under debate42. This evidence concerns the gene GCG and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
