Despite recent advances in the diagnosis and chemotherapeutic and targeted treatment of NSCLC, including immunotherapy, such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)‐targeted treatment, insulin‐like growth factor 1 receptor or EML4‐ALK fusion protein interference 7, the overall survival rate of NSCLC patients remains low (5‐year survival rate of 15%) and the recurrence rate of NSCLC remains high, even with early diagnosis 25. This evidence concerns the gene EML4 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
