The serine-arginine (SR)-rich splicing factor 1 (SRSF1) controls LMNA pre-mRNA alternative splicing [40], leading to the production of progerin (the truncated prelamin A protein produced in HGPS (Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome) cells and during physiological aging) [4,41]. Here, SRSF1 is linked to Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome.
