In addition to MCR being important in inhibiting inflammation via stimulation of endogenous corticosteroid production, acting directly on cells of the immune system and providing protection for OL, OPC and neurons, we have been interested in the potential of MCR signaling to contribute to repair in the CNS in MS, as well as in other diseases of the CNS. This evidence concerns the gene NR3C2 and cyclic hematopoiesis.
