We confirmed that genetic polymorphisms around the GDF15 gene were associated with GDF15 levels and also that GDF15 levels were associated with age, smoking, hypertension, and DM as well as circulating levels of LCN2 and many inflammatory and oxidative stress biomarkers including sTNFRII and homocysteine that have not been previously reported. This evidence concerns the gene GDF15 and diabetes mellitus.
