Although there was less clinical evidence of infection and corneal infiltrates, a greater number of viable bacteria were isolated from MyD88-/- corneas (6.6 x 106±2.7 x 106 CFU/cornea), isolated 24 hours post-infection, compared to both IL-1R-/- (1.5 x 106±0.4 x 106 CFU/cornea) and WT (0.06 x 106±0.05 x 106 CFU/cornea) (Fig 8C). The gene discussed is IL1R1; the disease is infection.
