Sunitinib (ST), approved by FDA to treat renal cell carcinoma (RCC),25 inhibits the activity of PDGFRs, c-KIT, FLT-3 and the VEGFRs.26 It not only induces cell viability loss and cell senescence, but also causes G1-S cell cycle arrest and DDR in OS-RC-2 cells.27 In addition, it was reported to stimulate incomplete autophagic flux in renal and bladder cancer cells,28, 29 and to induce autophagy in cardiac cells and PC12 cells.30, 31 Rasfonin is a natural product isolated from the fermentation cultures of the fungus Talaromyces sp. Here, KIT is linked to renal cell carcinoma.
