Furthermore, miR-34/449 overexpression suppressed IL-13 induced autophagy and decreased lung fibrosis similar to the effect of the autophagy inhibitor 3-MA, confirming that the effects of miR-34/449 on airway inflammation and pulmonary remodeling associated with asthma are mediated at least in part by the activation of autophagy.
