Although in our study, feeding mice a high fat diet for 16 weeks–which resulted in glucose intolerance and enhanced basal and glucose stimulated insulin release–resulted in a decrease of MafA expression of about 50% (S4B Fig), it did not result in a decrease in gene expression of genes involved in beta cell function nor in expression of the disallowed gene signature. The gene discussed is MAFA; the disease is Glucose intolerance.
