When we analyzed the overall prevalence of CVD (myocardial infarction/coronary artery disease, heart failure, cerebrovascular disease, and peripheral artery disease), it was 2 out of 14 in the patient group below median gene expression whereas in the group above median NQO1 gene expression, the prevalence of CVD was 8 out of 14 (Χ2 test, p = 0.02). The gene discussed is NQO1; the disease is myocardial infarction.
