Many studies have investigated antioxidants in the prevention and treatment of BPH [7, 8], and antioxidants have been proposed as therapeutic agents to prevent the progress of BPH by increasing the activities of antioxidant enzymes such as catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GR), and superoxide dismutase (SOD). This evidence concerns the gene GSR and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
