Assays and data exhibited that curcumin application to diabetic ischemia had the potential of: significantly promoting blood flow recovery via enhanced neovascularization; enhancing EPC function, namely angiogenesis, migration, and proliferation ability; reversing the hyperglycemia-induced EPC senescence; and upregulating the angiogenic factors, in terms of VEGF-A and Ang-1, in EPCs.
