This is interesting, since SP1 and ELK have been linked to memory function and Alzheimer's disease (Sananbenesi et al, 2002; Sung et al, 2013; Szatmari et al, 2013; Citron et al, 2015; Wei et al, 2016) and are—amongst other kinases—activated via ERK1/2 (Bonello & Khachigian, 2004; Salim et al, 2007; Besnard et al, 2011; Kim et al, 2012). This evidence concerns the gene MAPK3 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
