TGFB1 and non-small cell lung carcinoma: Fig 1A and S1A Fig show how the formation of gelatin-degrading and actin-enriched structures was significantly higher in H157 NSCLC cells after 5 days of TGF-β treatment. Moreover, this treatment also incremented the extension of total degraded areas (Fig 1B). These structures were identified as invadopodia since they presented cortactin and actin cores, and showed gelatin degradation underneath actin puncta (Fig 1C). Pretreatment of cells with the specific TGF-βRI kinase inhibitor, SB431542, returned matrix degradation to baseline (S1B Fig).
