Although the FSH levels were indistinguishable between the two groups, both LH and the LH/FSH ratio were strongly increased in the PCOS group by 36.4% and 39.8%, respectively (PCOS LH: 8.10 ± 3.87 IU/L, control LH: 5.1 ± 1.84 IU/L, 95% CI: 1.688 to 4.232, t = 4.624 df = 87, p < 0.0001; PCOS LH/FSH: 1.33 ± 0.74, control LH/FSH: 0.80 ± 0.29, 95% CI: 0.2942 to 0.7658, t = 4.467, df = 87, p < 0.0001). This evidence concerns the gene PLOD1 and polycystic ovary syndrome.
