The identification of non-CSP antigens that can be included into a multi-antigen subunit vaccine has recently gained momentum for P. falciparum, but such an effort has not yet been initiated for P. vivax. After mosquito transmission, sporozoites embark on a complex route of infection in the human host and three biological activities of the sporozoite are essential for their success, namely, gliding motility, cell traversal, and cell invasion.
