An increase in serum renin activity triggered by furosemide results in the activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system,(22) which may paradoxically enhance hepatic fibrosis.(23) However, 10 mg/kg/day furosemide does not increase serum renin activity;(22) thus, the low dose of furosemide used in the present study may have been insufficient to activate the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Here, REN is linked to Hepatic fibrosis.
