Decreased TIMP3 was implicated in inflammation and IR; hepatic steatosis and liver inflammation was observed in TIMP3 knockout animals fed a high-fat diet (HFD) whereas ADAM17 activity is significantly increased in the liver and white adipose tissue (WAT) of mice fed a HFD in association with the development of IR and hepatosteatosis8. The gene discussed is ADAM17; the disease is fatty liver disease.
