Comparing the DNA methylation percentage of each of the six CpGs on the HOXA9 and HOXA10 promoters in tumor tissues and their paired normal samples revealed that the methylation was significantly higher in the tumor samples than their paired normal samples (p < 1.0 × 10−14 for all six CpGs, n = 90, paired t test) (Fig. 2a).
