In our study, the correlations of GH peak with some parameters of body composition, together with the lack of any correlations between GH peak and clinical (tender point score) or biochemical (ESR and CRP) indices of FM severity, seem to suggest that the latter hypothesis (i.e., obesity causing the most cases of GHD or impairment in GH-IGF-1 axis) is more convincing than the former one (i.e., FM causing the most cases of GHD or impairment in GH-IGF-1 axis). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
