COL11A1 and ovarian carcinoma: Among the extracellular matrix-receptor interaction pathway, several collagen genes were upregulated in malignant melanomas compared to melanocytomas; one of the most upregulated was COL11A. A collagen-remodeling gene signature has been found in human ovarian cancers, where levels of COL11A1 continuously increase during disease progression, with the highest expression in recurrent metastases59.
