ABCD2 and infection: While we observed some differences in percentages of macrophages infected between ALD1 KO and WT, the magnitude of the differences were quite small (~10–15%) and trended both up and down, suggesting that ALD1 KO did not possess a gross defect in the ability to infect macrophages or differentiate to the amastigote stage in the context of a cellular infection (Fig 5A, left panel).
