In addition several other frequently used medications, for associated comorbidities in gout, have been suggested to affect the risk of gout, whereas their effect on NL is unclear, including calcium channel blockers [25, 26], beta blockers and aldosterone receptor blockers [25], renin-angiotensin-aldosterone-inhibitors (RAAS)-inhibitors [25] and lipid lowering drugs [27–29].There are few prospective cohort studies that have studied these predictors for NL specifically in patients with gout [30]. This evidence concerns the gene REN and gout.
