Although, there were no significant phenotypic differences in the bone micro-architecture as a result of this post-puberty (D67−120) exercise in the HF animals, compared to the HF-SED group, this physical activity combined with lower caloric intake was associated with down-regulation of genes involved in inflammation, and of genes that promote osteoclastogenesis (i.e., Csf1r, Ccr1, and C5aR1).
