The tumor marker AFP is widely used for HCC's surveillance (Blomme et al., 2009; Xia et al., 2012), while on account of AFP-negative HCC is frequently observed, AFP-L3 has been a preferred HCC biomarker in early diagnosis of HCC and in predicting prognosis after treatment (Sato et al., 1993; Okuda et al., 1999; Kumada et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene AFP and hepatocellular carcinoma.
