In summary, a time-dependent depletion of quiescent and activated satellite cells expressing BMI1 but not EZH1 is noted in DMD, while an overall reduction in the myonuclei expressing BMI1 and EZH1 is detected, raising the possibility that fluctuation in the expression of BMI1 may be more relevant for satellite cells' biology. Here, EZH1 is linked to Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
