A retrospective study including 38 cases of ovarian metastases from CRC used next-generation somatic mutation profiling to assess 341 cancer-associated genes [23], finding an increased number of mutations in the KRAS, SMAD4, and NTRK1 genes in ovarian metastases, compared to a cohort of 543 cases without ovarian metastases. This evidence concerns the gene SMAD4 and colorectal carcinoma.
