In agreement, we discovered that FN075-injected mice had impaired sensorimotor functions, a vast loss of TH-positive neurons, and metabolic serum profiles that matched those of early-diagnosed PD patients.27 Although the molecular mechanisms behind these effects are unclear, the observations of no nigral cell death and no change in metabolic profiles for Snca KO mice injected with FN075 clearly indicate that the FN075 effects found in normal mice are dependent on α-synuclein interactions. This evidence concerns the gene SNCA and Parkinson disease.
