Already shown to work with proteins such as RAD51 and OGG1 to repair DNA damage and increase cellular resistance to oxidative stress, RAD52 was first associated with NSCLC risk through a genome-wide association study conducted in Europeans which linked the 12p13.33 locus containing RAD52 with squamous cell lung cancer risk [39, 40]. The gene discussed is RAD52; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
