NLRC5 and infection: Interestingly, our research also showed that zebrafish NLRC5 normal form is involved in an IFN-independent antiviral response and also functions as a transcriptional regulator of MHC class II genes [85], which is different from mammalian NLRC5. Further studies are needed to understand the function and the mechanism of NLRC5 isoforms in response to different pathogens infection.
