ACHE and Alzheimer disease: Since reduced Ach levels were found in the basal forebrain and hippocampus of AD patients and thought to be associated with dementia (Lim et al., 2015), inhibitors of AchE, such as donepezil, rivastigmine, and galantamine, have been used clinically to treat AD patients (Deardorff and Grossberg, 2016).
