In addition, the number of DCX+ cells in the DG was markedly reduced in the Tg group compared with the WT group (12.28 ± 1.70 vs. 26.85 ± 1.33, p < 0.001, Figures 3D,E), while DMS treatment dramatically increased the number of DCX+ cells compared with that of the Tg group (21.04 ± 1.71 vs. 12.28 ± 1.70, p < 0.01), indicating that DMS treatment effectively promoted neurogenesis in the hippocampus of AD mice.
