The aim of this study was to examine the association between intakes of dietary sugars from different sources [beverages (sugars from liquids), food (sugars from solids), extrinsic (free) sugars, intrinsic (non-free) sugars] and metabolic markers including, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), C-reactive protein (CRP) and a metabolic risk z-score. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and Insulin resistance.
