HLA-DRB1 and interstitial nephritis: Interestingly Reddy et al. reported that 14/15 paediatric patients with unexplained panuveitis had a HLA-DRB1*01-HLADQB1*05 haplotype (identified as being high risk for TINU in the Levinson study) but did not have any evidence of interstitial nephritis, again raising the possibility that some of these alleles are risk factors for uveitis rather than specifically for TINU [29].
