CD4 and breast cancer: Of 1,092 consecutive patients with BC enrolled between 2006 and 2012, 765 (70%) were tested for HIV; 151 (19.7%) tested positive (including one-third of patients < 50 years old) and 37 (24.5%) had CD4 cell counts < 200 cells/L (median CD4 count, 316 cells/L).38 More than half of the patients were diagnosed with stage III or IV disease.
