The co-existence of hif-2α and β-catenin was observed in pancreatic cancer cells, especially those with hif-2α overexpression, which resulted in nuclear translocation of β-catenin (Fig. 3a and b), suggesting that the transcriptional activity-dependent role of β-catenin was facilitated by hif-2α in these cells. The gene discussed is EPAS1; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
