Requena [31] studied the therapeutic effects of CGMP on TNBS-induced ileitis in mice and confirmed that intragastric administration of CGMP in these mice at appropriate doses could significantly reduce morphological injury, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity, and the expression levels of iNOS and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and the anti-inflammatory effects of CGMP were the same as those of 5-aminosalicylic acid, a medicine used to therapeutically treat IBD. The gene discussed is MPO; the disease is Crohn ileitis.
