The first study to mention autophagy in zebrafish used a zebrafish Huntington’s disease (HD) model expressing EGFP-HDQ71 aggregates, where autophagy was found to be upregulated by reagents such as calpastatin, calpeptin, 2′5′DDA and clonidine (Table 2), resulting in a decrease in EGFP-HDQ71 aggregates [147]. The gene discussed is CAST; the disease is Huntington disease.
