This hypothesis was supported by Gao et al. who showed that the deletion of both IL-6 alleles does not completely block hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development in NCOA5+/ male mice, and other downstream targets of NCOA5 may also contribute to hepatocarcinogenesis (Gao et al., 2013[10]). The gene discussed is NCOA5; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
