One significant feature of SCs is their ability to produce an array of trophic factors such as brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), and cerebral dopamine neurotrophic factor (CDNF) that promote the growth of regenerating axons after acute or delayed peripheral nerve injuries [6–8]. This evidence concerns the gene GDNF and peripheral nerve injury.
