Hence, psoriasis has been associated with increased levels of inflammatory markers including interleukin (IL)-23, IL-17A and nuclear factor (NF)-κB, but also with markers of keratinocyte homeostasis such as signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) (Sano et al., 2005; Finch et al., 1997; McKenzie and Sabin, 2003; Nair et al., 2008).
