Another report from three malaria-endemic areas of Colombia of a descriptive study of 34 malaria in pregnancy cases from 2011 to 2013 included three (8.8%) severe P. falciparum malaria cases with moderate anaemia (mean Hb 8.7 ± 0.1 g/dL) and an additional two severe malaria cases in women who developed a second malaria episode during pregnancy (and P. falciparum, one P. vivax) [85]. The gene discussed is GSTM1; the disease is malaria.
