Overall, we are of the opinion, that the treatment options preferred by the participants are largely reflective of the unique pattern of dyslipidemia observed in South Asian Indians (characterized by high levels of apolipoprotein [apo] B, TG and lipoprotein{a} [Lpa], borderline high levels of LDL-C; and low levels of HDL-C and apoA1) [22] and, hence, may not have completely conformed to the available international guidelines. This evidence concerns the gene APOB and metabolic syndrome.
