Both recombinant human TRAIL and DR4/5 agonistic antibodies have shown encouraging antitumor activities in clinical trials.38 Numerous reports have demonstrated a synergy between TRAIL and cisplatin in different types of cancer cells.39, 40 Here we provide the first demonstration that human GC cells with acquired cisplatin resistance are significantly more sensitive to TRAIL than their parental cells owing to the former’s high DR4 expression. The gene discussed is TNFRSF10A; the disease is gastric cancer.
