Marked by a restricted distribution in normal tissues, CSPG4 is over-expressed in several haematological and solid neoplastic conditions besides melanomas, including oligodendrocytomas, gliomas, childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia, renal cell carcinomas, chondrosarcomas, pancreatic and triple-negative breast carcinomas. Here, CSPG4 is linked to melanoma.
