Extreme dysregulation in the serum levels of several APPs including SAA, CRP, Leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein (P02750), Alpha-1-antichymotrypsin, and Alpha-1-antitrypsin (P01009) observed during the FEB stage of the infection clearly indicates generation of strong inflammatory responses against the malaria parasites almost immediately after onset of the infection. The gene discussed is SERPINA1; the disease is infection.
