In contrast ΔGLY mutant mice with chronically elevated endogenous adiponectin have been shown to be protected from hyperglycemia, adipose tissue hypoxia, protease inhibitor-induced lipodystrophy, as well as brain inflammation, renal fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension33, 51–53, and we found that they were protected from fibrosis in two distinct mouse models. The gene discussed is ADIPOQ; the disease is Hyperglycemia.
